We are a social enterprise production to retail company made in Nairobi, Kenya.

Swahili word for me.

Pambo

/ˈpambəʊ/ noun

Swahili word for ornament.

 

Founding

 

Mimi Pambo was born in early 2021 after Wambui Muritu, the founder had been away from home in Nairobi for almost 2 years during the COVID-19 pandemic. In those two years, she went through an accessories phase where she was looking everywhere for unique jewelry to anchor herself and that she could wear everyday. Somehow, she couldn't find any that was bold and outstanding. So when she went to back to Nairobi, Inspiration hit and she started to think about how she can share the spirit, Boldness and beauty of Nairobi in Jewelry with the rest of the world. And that became the start of Mimi Pambo. Now, together with a team of talented designers, she designs collections intended to inspire fearlessness and impact confidence. Mimi Pambo launched in June 2021 and is now a company supported by a team of about ten creatives and administrators.

 

 Vision

The vision for Mimi Pambo is to celebrate local and traditional artistry with the world. As Africa mourns the loss of its historic artifacts and art, we are focused on ensuring the continued creation of art in Africa.  We pride ourselves in striving towards pushing the envelope for creative young people in the fashion and accessories world- and we hope to include, support and work with more of them.

 

Social Impact

As a social enterprise, our focus is and will remain to be on the impact of Mimi Pambo on its immediate environments and people. We have set out with the goal of first creating optimum working conditions for our artisans and empowering them in their creative journey’s. Then, providing accessible tools for the teaching, learning and continuation of skillful jewelry artistry in Kenya and in the near future, in the larger Africa.

Sustainability

All of Mimi Pambo’s jewelry is made from 18 K Gold Plated recycled brass. All our other production materials are ethically sourced. As we grow we pledge to continue working towards more sustainable practices and setting up more sustainable systems.

 

 We hope to contribute in a sustainable, meaningful and lasting way to your accessories collection and the larger fashion space.
